SB1047 – Doubles Tax Credit Maximums after 7/1/12

On Wednesday, February 29^th, Governor Brewer signed SB1047 into law which goes into effect July 1 and will, in effect, double the maximum amount taxpayers can contribute to the Brophy Community Foundation.

Historically, the Brophy Community Foundation has received donations up to $500 from individual taxpayers and up to $1,000 for taxpayers filing jointly—all donations qualify for a dollar-for-dollar Arizona income tax credit. On July 1, those amounts will increase up to $1,000 and $2,000 respectively. The intention of this legislation has always been to provide private education options for families who could not otherwise afford it. Last fall, donations to the Brophy Community Foundation made it possible for over 1,000 students to receive tuition awards. Every year, there are more students, so more donors and higher maximums are always happy news.

Note the difference between the 2011 maximum donation options and the 2012 maximum donation options? The annual maximums will continue to rise a few dollars each year. Check our website often for updates.
