Jesuit beliefs and education as a right
Brophy Community Foundation is a certified Arizona school tuition organization guided by Jesuit teachings. While we support the principles of Jesuit education through our partner institution, Brophy College Preparatory, our reach expands to 37 other private K-12 schools across Arizona — not just Jesuit schools.
Brophy Community Foundation’s mission is to give Arizona K-12 students with verified financial need the opportunity to receive a quality private school education. We believe quality education paves the way for brighter futures, and every child should have equal access to it. Our values form the foundation of our mission, but the community and the impact we make within it continue to drive the work we do.
Principles of the Jesuit Faith
As a Jesuit organization, we embody the vision of St. Ignatius of Loyola, who founded the Jesuit faith nearly 500 years ago. His Spiritual Exercises recognize the ultimate goodness of the world — goodness that has been created, loved and redeemed by God.
The first Jesuit school was founded in Messina, Italy, and since then, the Society of Jesus has centered education on advancing the whole person. Today, we recognize Jesuit education as a way to develop leaders who are open to growth, loving, committed to justice, intellectually competent and religious.
“Religious” is defined as having a basic knowledge of the Catholic Church’s major doctrines and practices. Additionally, to be religious, one must systematically examine his or her own religious beliefs and feelings. Commitment to justice is also an important principle of Jesuit education, as it recognizes that we belong to a worldwide community and hold personal responsibility to create a more peaceful and merciful world.
The goal of Brophy Community Foundation is to create a community made of “persons for and with others.” This hallmark was first introduced in 1974 by Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J., the former Jesuit Superior General. The phrase “Men and Women for Others” remains a powerful motto for Brophy students and alumni.
Join Us in Our Mission to Provide a Private Education to Financially Qualified Students
At Brophy Community Foundation, we enable financially qualified students to obtain high-quality private education at Arizona K-12 schools — a mission that would be impossible without the generous support of our individual and corporate donors. We encourage you to join us by redirecting your individual and/or corporate tax liability to Brophy Community Foundation and giving students equal access to quality private education.
